Student Training at the World Freefall Convention

Accelerated Freefall (AFF)

The World Freefall Convention will be holding the first jump training in 2006! A 4-6 hour Accelerated Freefall School will hold several first jump courses which prepares you for your first solo training jump. You will jump from 12,000 - 14,000 feet, with your own parachute system, accompanied by two instructors.

After almost a full minute of freefall, you'll pull your ripcord and fly your parachute with guidance from an instructor via radio. As you progress through the course, you will be released by the jumpmasters and be asked to perform maneuvers in the air. By your seventh level, you will be jumping out of the airplane unassisted. What better way to learn to skydive than at the "Woodstock" of skydiving events?

To learn more about the AFF program you can visit the web site of Quad Cities Skydiving Center who is the official student training vendor for the WFFC.

Tandem Skydiving

$199 will give you your first jump! A USPA-rated tandem instructor will take you to 12-14,000 feet above the ground and accompany you on the thrill of a lifetime.

Go to the spectator area at the Convention (outside the airport) with your money and a good pair of sneakers (no sandals, combat boots, or platform sneakers).

What's involved, you ask? You must be 18 years of age or older and don't forget to bring your ID. You should weigh no more than 220 lbs. (or, if you are a physically fit person who weighs more than that, there is a possibility we can accommodate you.) Please call to check. If you have a medical condition that requires a doctor's permission in order to jump, please bring that certificate with you.

Allow a half-day for the jump. We must give you some training and get your paperwork signed. Last year (2005), we made almost 500 tandem jumps with first-time jumpers like you! Come during the week for a faster turnaround time, as we are very busy on the weekends.

You should consider capturing the event on video! For an additional $79, you will have a skydiver with a video camera and a still camera mounted on his helmet accompanying you. They will capture on video and stills the entire process: your gearing up, the actual freefall, your landing, and your interview afterwards. You will be able to take the video and stills with you that same day! Show your family and friends what you accomplished!

The tandem operation at the Convention has a full-time staff of 10 tandem instructosr, as well as 4 full-time video persons. We hope to see you at the 2006 World FreeFall Convention!! For more information, call (217) AAA-JUMP - (217) 222-5867.
